The Clarity Principle
Mixed signals are almost always a signal in themselves: they indicate that someone is either ambivalent, emotionally occupied, or enjoying attention without wanting commitment.
Asking for clarity is never "needy" — it is the hallmark of high self-respect.
1. Observe Behavior Over Words
When someone’s words say "I really like you and want to see you," but their schedule always says "I'm too busy this entire month," believe their actions.
2. The Low-Drama Check-In Script
You don’t need an accusatory paragraph. Try this calm, confident script:
"Hey! I've really enjoyed spending time with you. I like knowing where things stand with people I'm dating — are you looking to see where this goes, or are you in more of a casual headspace right now?"
3. Respect the Answer (And Respect Yourself)
If their answer is vague or non-committal, you have your clarity. Release the attachment with grace and make space for someone whose enthusiasm is mutual and clear.
